Why local cremation habits matter for your exotic pet
With cremation at roughly 79.1%[1] for people in Washington, pet providers here often sell bundles built around a cat or dog: a wooden urn, a paw print, a certificate. For an exotic pet, parts of that bundle may not fit. A glider's paw print is barely visible, and a standard urn dwarfs a hedgehog's remains. From enclosure to ashes: the steps in Sammamish

Why does the Sammamish page quote a human cremation rate?
Because it is the best local signal we have. Direct Cremate (citing CANA) (2024) reports about 79.1%[1] of Washington residents are cremated. There is no official pet equivalent, and inventing one would be worse than quoting a real, clearly labelled number.
Does the Sammamish climate change what I should do first?
Only the timing. In August, with highs near 77°F, cool the body and book collection the same day. Winters here are mild enough that burial or scattering is possible in any month.
Can a provider from a neighbouring town collect from Sammamish?
Usually yes. Redmond is about 3 miles away, Bellevue is about 6 miles away and Kirkland is about 7 miles away, all inside a normal collection radius. Get the mileage written into the quote so there is no surprise on the day.
Will I have to travel to Seattle to arrange things?
